On Saturday May 3, 2003 the Louisiana Association for Academic Competition (LAAC) in conjunction with St. Mary's School Spring Fling held the first of what we hope to be many Adult Quiz Bowl Tournament.
This year there were three teams in the competition including NSU Watson Library, Williams Law Firm and Dominic's Restaurant. The lawyers and the folks from the restaurant put up a good fight, but the librarians swept their way to an easy victory.
Members of the library team were James Kwak and Watson reference librarians Gail Kwak, Abbie Landry and Melissa Roberts. Abbie Landry is the Head of Reference at Watson Library and Secretary of the LAAC. Her husband is LAAC President and tournament coordinator Mike Landry. James Kwak is the husband of Gail Kwak, who is Government Documents librarian at Watson Library, and is employed by The Ink Spot. Melissa Roberts is the Reference Collection Management librarian at Watson Library and a recent graduate of the University of Alabama.
